These miniature replicas were first introduced around 1942 and became sensationalized by the toy company, in 1947. In 1968 Matchbox Toys introduced these cars into their United States market and the phenomenon blossomed.Many well known companies chose the cars as marketing tools and in the nineteen fifties these miniature models were highly sought after for their collectible appeal. With the passing of time the cars became available in various scales but the 1:43 scale remained the most popular with collectors across the world.
